A Day of Santa Magic in West Scranton

This year, I had the absolute joy of photographing a four-hour community Santa photo experience at the West Scranton Youth Center, hosted and funded by the West Scranton Wrestling Alumni Association and the Youth Arts Coalition. Families were invited to bring their children to meet Santa, share their Christmas wishes, and leave with a printed portrait in hand the very same day. This event was a beautiful example of what happens when community, generosity, and holiday spirit come together.

The Youth Arts Coalition and West Scranton Wrestling Alumni Association created such a warm and welcoming environment for families. They generously provided the holiday backdrop, Santa’s chair, the red rug for the set, holiday music, and treated everyone to free cookies and hot chocolate throughout the day. These thoughtful details helped transform the space into a true holiday experience where families could slow down and enjoy the moment together.

Throughout the session, families arrived one by one for their time with Santa. Each child had a personal moment to talk with him first and share what they were hoping for this Christmas. One of the most special parts of this day was the instant printing. After each session, families received a physical photo immediately. Watching children walk out holding their Santa portrait in their hands was incredibly rewarding. There was no waiting, no follow-up needed, and no uncertainty. Just a joyful, tangible memory to take home that same day.

Over four continuous hours, I photographed a steady flow of families while maintaining consistent lighting, composition, and quality from start to finish. Whether it was a child’s first photo of the day or the final session of the event, every family received the same level of attention and care. Consistency is what elevates an event like this from simply taking pictures to creating a professional, meaningful experience.

Events like this are a powerful reminder of why I do what I do. Photography is not only about creating polished images. It is about creating experiences that feel meaningful in the moment and remain meaningful years later. To the West Scranton Wrestling Alumni Association, the Youth Arts Coalition, and the West Scranton Youth Center, thank you for hosting such a special event and for investing in our community. And to every family who trusted me with this moment in your holiday season, thank you. It was truly an honor to create these memories for you.

If you are interested in future holiday sessions, community events, or family photography in the Scranton area, I would love to work with you.
